\n-High-Tech Drug Network Operating via Snapchat Busted\u2014-
\nFaridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Under the ongoing ‘War on Drugs’ campaign in Punjab, the Faridkot Police have achieved a significant breakthrough. The police have arrested three traffickers while dismantling an international-level drug smuggling network that was being operated through the social media app, Snapchat. 200 grams of heroin have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
\nLudhiana-based Traffickers Apprehended During Checkpoint Operation:
\nActing under the directives of SSP Faridkot, Dr. Pragya Jain, a team led by SP (Investigation) Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya and DSP Mr. Iqbal Singh established a special checkpoint near Village Dod, situated on the Faridkot-Bathinda border. During this operation, three suspicious youths riding a motorcycle were intercepted. Upon searching them, a consignment of narcotics was recovered from their possession.
\nIdentification of the Arrested Accused:
\nAnand Kumar Pandey (Resident of Ludhiana), Ajay Kumar (Resident of Ludhiana),
\nNikhil Kumar (Resident of Ludhiana).
\nDetails of Recoveries:
\nHeroin: 200 grams; Electronic Gadgets: 02 Mobile Phones;
\nOther Items: 01 Digital Scale (for weighing) and 01 Motorcycle.
\nSnapchat: The ‘Digital Weapon’ Used to Evade Police
\nInterrogation has revealed a shocking fact: these traffickers utilized Snapchat as a tool to evade detection by the police and security agencies. “The accused used to share information regarding the location of drugs, supply instructions, and financial transactions on Snapchat, as messages on this app delete automatically, thereby making it difficult to gather evidence\u2014Police Report.
\nFurther Action and Remand:
\nA case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at the Bajakhana Police Station. The police are now seeking the remand of the accused in order to trace the full extent of this network’s connections and to ascertain the source from which this consignment of heroin was procured.
\nSSP Dr. Pragya Jain has appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in the fight against drug traffickers and to immediately report any suspicious activity.
