\n-Martyrs’ Day Celebrated with Revolutionary Fervor in Faridkot;
\n-Mass Organizations Lash Out Against Policies of Central and State Governments\u2014
\nFaridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Today, at the local ‘Shaheed Comrade Amolak Singh Aulakh Bhawan,’ the Martyrs’ Day of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev was observed with immense reverence and revolutionary zeal by various organizations affiliated with the AITUC. The program commenced with leaders from various sections of society offering heartfelt tributes to the martyrs by laying floral wreaths upon their portraits. During the event, the entire premises reverberated with sky-rending slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ (Long Live Revolution) and ‘Samrajyavad Murdabad’ (Down with Imperialism).
\nDreams Remain Unfulfilled Decades After Independence:
\nAddressing the gathering, Punjab Pensioners Union leaders Prem Chawla and Som Nath Arora, along with Powercom Pensioners Union leader Chand Singh Dod, stated that Bhagat Singh and his comrades had envisioned an India where there was no room for exploitation. Expressing deep anguish, they remarked that even decades after independence, the nation’s rulers have utterly failed to realize the India of the martyrs’ dreams. Instead of safeguarding the interests of the common people, today’s governments are preoccupied with serving the interests of imperialism and large corporate houses.
\nSharp Attacks on Central and State Governments:
\nTerming the policies of the Modi-led Central Government and the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government as anti-people, the speakers launched a scathing attack on both administrations. The leaders leveled serious allegations regarding: Communal Politics-claiming that the Central Government is consolidating its power by dividing the people in the name of religion.
\nLack of Basic Amenities-noting that discrimination against the common public in fundamental services such as education and healthcare is on the rise.
\nPro-Corporate Bias-asserting that the government’s policies are designed solely to benefit big capitalists, thereby breaking the back of the common man. The leaders called upon the youth to follow in the footsteps of the martyrs and, standing united, adopt the path of struggle against these repressive policies.
\nProminent Leaders Present:
\nOn this occasion, a large number of pensioners, farmers, and labor leaders were present, including Gora Pipli (NREGA Workers’ Union), Iqbal Singh Dhuri, Balkar Singh Sahota (Class IV Employees), Charanjit Singh Chameli, Sukhjinder Singh Tumbadbhan (All India Kisan Sabha), Comrade Jagtar Singh Bhana, Bohad Singh Aulakh, and Resham Singh Jatana.
